Veronique Gallo On Tour With Her Latest Show “Femme De Vie” In California
Belgian humorist and actress Véronique Gallo, whose comedic prowess has captivated audiences in Paris, is embarking on an exhilarating journey with her latest one-woman extravaganza, “Femme De Vie.” This showcase of wit and emotion will grace the stages of Menlo Park, San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles on May 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th, 2024, respectively, promising a unique experience for Californian francophone theater enthusiasts.
In “Femme De Vie,” Gallo delves deep into the multifaceted realm of womanhood in her forties, blending humor with poignant insights. She fearlessly confronts the intricacies of modern life, from the weight of familial responsibilities and the complexities of aging to the relentless pursuit of societal ideals. With razor-sharp wit, she navigates through topics ranging from the mental juggling act of managing household affairs to the tender dynamics of nurturing both children and elderly parents. Gallo’s candid exploration extends to the physical transformations that accompany this stage of life, including the notorious hot flashes and the allure of cosmetic enhancements like Botox injections. However, amidst the laughter, Gallo also invites her audience to contemplate deeper existential questions and reflect on their connection with nature.
Under the direction of Amandine Letawe and Jean Lambert, and illuminated by the creative vision of lighting designer Laurent Kaye, “Femme De Vie” promises to be a theatrical tour de force, offering a blend of entertainment and introspection unlike any other.
Beyond her prowess on stage, Véronique Gallo is a creative force to be reckoned with. In addition to her acclaimed performances, she is the mastermind behind the beloved series “Vie de mère” and “Femme De Vie.” Gallo’s talents extend to the literary realm, with three published novels to her name, including the widely praised “Tout ce silence” (2012). Her theatrical flair shines in her play “Chacun sa place” (2015), further solidifying her reputation as a versatile artist.
As she embarks on this tour, Gallo’s most recent literary offerings, “Pour quand tu seras grande” and “L’Entropie des sentiments,” continue to delight readers through Éditions Héloïse d’Ormesson. Despite her demanding schedule, Gallo remains rooted in Belgium, where she balances her artistic pursuits with the joys of motherhood.
The tour is organized by French Talents USA, a non profit association based in California whose mission is to promote French culture and Francophone artists in the United States.
