The Wonderful Principality of Monaco: Relaxation is Guaranteed in the Heart of Monte-Carlo, at the Swimming Pool and at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo's Lobby Bar
In the heart of one of the most beautiful hotels in Monaco, the Hôtel Métropole I spent a few hours by the Odyssey pool, a real breath of fresh air and relaxation that does the body the most good! Followed by a sublime dinner with friends at Metropole Lobby Bar.

This luxurious Belle Epoque style property opened in 1886 and it remains relevant today. It’s one of the most luxurious establishments in Monte Carlo. This 5-star destination is, in its own right, reserved for those looking for a certain “joie de vivre.” We discover luxury and conviviality just by crossing the lobby with the elegant decor and subtle style of the place. We are surprised by such a warm welcome, so very personalized, and authentic. The hotel has 125 rooms and suites, full of Mediterranean charm with a top-flight restaurant and bar. However it was for its superb swimming pool and its Spa Metropole by Givenchy that I passed through its door on this hot and rainy afternoon in June. The decor is timeless, it’s mixed with contemporary touches for the greatest comfort. On my next visit, I hope to have the opportunity to try out the spa treatments.

A bubble of well-being
The capricious weather was a perfect opportunity for a retreat at the Odyssey pool for an afternoon focused on relaxation. After putting away my bag in the locker rooms (which lack nothing when it comes to “amenities”), I discovered the luxurious facilities: a space reserved for women, another for men. Both are very spacious.
This 5-star is absolutely top notch: it features a swimming pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, and private showers. There are also many relaxation areas, and beauty treatments with bathrobes and slippers available to its clients.
Between swims, I took advantage of the comfortable sun loungers with parasols by the pool, a real haven of peace where you can relax while reading a magazine or a book!

A chic and glamorous universe
The fresh Mediterranean setting of the swimming pool in summer, covered in winter, is a large relaxing space, with its green gardens and a teak terrace from which you can watch the sea while having lunch at the ODYSSEY restaurant. The restaurant is open every day from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This creation of Chef Christophe Cussac is designed around a menu where the freshness, lightness and quality of seasonal products are essential.

You can also reserve a table for dinner by the pool in the one Michelin star Japanese restaurant. The “Summer Yoshi” concept in the Odyssey space offers a sumptuous menu and several unique cocktails! It is fabulous Japanese cuisine prepared by the Japanese Chef Takéo Yamazaki, in a contemporary and beautiful setting with decor by Didier Gomez. The decor of the swimming pool has a haute couture setting designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

As for the hotel, the interior designer, Jacques Garcia, drew his inspiration from the elegant world in symbiosis with the Principality. The authenticity of the wooden furniture of the hotel is given a pride of place and there are artistic floral touches everywhere. The rendering is chic without being opulent, a subtle luxury for this serene universe! But the best, of course, are the hotel services included in the reservation: concierge and valet parking, this gives a feeling of authentic concern from the staff, (and it’s not just an impression!). They give you their full attention.

The Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo is the best 5-star choice for a first time stay in Monaco due to its proximity to many points of interest in the city such as the Metropole Shopping Mall and the Monte Carlo casino. It is also the view of the latter that gives it a major advantage, which can be enjoyed from certain rooms and suites, and on the terrace for the greatest visual delight!
A dinner at the Lobby Bar in a cozy atmosphere
A delicious dinner awaited us. The superb interior design reminds us of a luxurious, super cozy European apartment where you feel at home. Several spaces, each with a distinct atmosphere, have been arranged for the guests’: lounge areas where regulars and tourists rub shoulders in the warm presence of vintage and collectible art objects. As for the food, it’s a menu with Mediterranean recipes as well as some local specialties that we enjoyed! We opted for the grilled beef tenderloin with béarnaise sauce; John Dory with artichokes from Provence, tomato broth and spaghetti seasoned with a tomato and basil coulis, Bolognese or pesto. And for dessert try, the vanilla millefeuille. Experience a wonderful evening eating amazing Mediterranean cuisine while enjoying the sound of comforting lounge music.
